Jake, Cindy and Bob Ballard

Hi, I am Jake.  I am also from the UP, Houghton area.  I live in Lansing now with my best buddy, Sly.  I LIVE to play Frisbee and ball and really don't know when to stop.  I love the water and can't wait for the next Dog Paddle so I can steal all the balls on the beach!  I am pretty curious guy and always follow my master around the house to see what he is doing (which is never very interesting but I keep hoping).

Sly, Cindy and Bob Ballard

Hi, I am Sly (actually Sylvester) with one of my babies that I love to chew up.  I am a UP dog from the Keweenaw Peninsula and have been trained by Cindy's daughter Meredith.  But I live in Lansing now with my best buddy Jake.  I love to tease Jake and bark at anything that moves.  I know lots of tricks including holding a bone on my nose for way too long!  In all kinds of weather (rain, snow, thunderstorms, remember I am from the UP), you will find me in my favorite spot on the back deck chaise lounger.  I look older than I really am (almost four years) must be all of the hard outdoor living – yeah right!

Liam - Shelly Barton

Hiya My name is Lock N Liam. Liam is Gaelic for William ( a ready protector). Someone forgot to check with me to see about my personality before choosing that name 'cause I am really a social beast. I love people, and Kids and warm fuzzy squeaky toys (oh yeah: mom calls them cats!) My favorite game at the park is chase.. I love it when dogs try to catch me and I run like crazy all over the place. My favorite game at home is kill the socks, all socks must be distroyed!! Good thing i come back to my mom when called. So, If you Like to chase other dogs come down and visit us at the park

Jack - Beth Bowen

Jack is a white Boxer (b. July 2006). White boxers have traditionally met with a lot of scorn from the Boxer community--at one time it was 'illegal' for a Boxer breeder to sell or even give away white boxers. And it's still taboo to breed them. Sometimes they can be deaf, like dalmatians, and they are prone to sun burn and, consequently, skin cancer. But Jack has all his hearing and sniffing abilities in tack. He's a very smart guy who learns and adapts quickly. He loves to run, chase the ball (some, he's not a retriever after all), swim, play with his big brother, and take rides in the car. We were lucky enough to adopt Jack from friends, so he occasionally gets to see his mom, dad, uncle, and sister Boxers in Alma, MI. In this picture, he's pretending to be the Xmas tree.

Spike - Beth Bowen

Spike is a Yellow Labrador, originally from Iowa (b. Oct 2004). He's an American type Lab--long, lanky, tall, and big (86lbs). People often ask if he's mixed with a Great Dane, but, no, he's all Lab. Unfortunately, being all Lab means he has genetic problems with his knees. He had Cruciate surgery on his back leg when he was barely 1 year old. Despite his leg problems, Spike loves to run, chase the ball, swim, play with his little brother, and take rides in the car. Spike loves his fenced yard in Perry, MI (here, he is practicing his yoga), but he's looking forward to the park opening since he doesn't have a pond in his yard.
